Story
Room Project is founded by Christin Lee. Christin is a graduate of the Helen Zell Writers Program at the University of Michigan, and has lived in Detroit since 2016. As a writer, Christin struggled to find a space in Detroit that supported her needs. She created Room Project out of the desire to have a designated place to create work of her own, and it quickly took shape as interest from other writers grew.
Now, Room Project’s members form a community of creative individuals from diverse backgrounds who support each other’s work and help create a space that they want to use. While Room Project was founded with a focus on writers, our membership includes artists with backgrounds in graphic design, media, photography, illustration, installation, music and performance. These artists design flyers and window installations for Room Project, host member dinners, collaborate on projects, and teach one another through workshops at the space.
