Sonic Arts United

Female Representation in Sound Design

According to a 2016 Huffington Post article:

  • In 2000, The Women in Audio Committee of the Audio Engineering Society estimated that only 5% of the people who work in the production of music, television, news and film are women and that number is steadily declining.
  • Only 7% of Audio Engineering Society members are women.

Sexism is unacceptable and we can’t tolerate it any longer. We believe that the sonic arts are a universal connector, so it is our responsibility to provide opportunities to girls and women. We have extended this belief to other underrepresented groups. Loud Clear STL is a love note from Sonic Arts United to young Black girls and women. In order to empower our artists to excel, Sonic Arts United is proactive in creating paths for inclusion and visibility.
