A Transformative Summer Retreat
AMP Camp is a transformative Summer retreat for Detroit artist-educators. It grew out of Detroit Future Schools (DFS) as a curriculum-planning retreat for teachers and teaching artists who would be working together over the coming school year as part of DFS’s teacher professional development and artist-in-residency program. For two years it took place at a YMCA Camp in Western Michigan. AMP CAMP 2014 was open to teaching artists from across Detroit, not only DFS artists. More than a planning retreat, it became a space to nurture creativity in those who nurture creativity in others.
