Rooted Collective

Story

Founded in 2016, we are committed to building joyful spaces that celebrate and honor how Black LGBTQ communities heal. Our work springs from a collective understanding (as adrienne maree brown argues) that we would not continue to exist and thrive in the face of oppression, if we did not hold hope for a better world. We believe that as Black queer and trans artists, healers, and cultural workers we have a birthright to liberation in the present, and any attempt to deny us this, is an act that works to dehumanize us.

Our work is grounded in the values of ritual, intersectionality, healing, rootedness, and pleasure.
