Kickstarter Fundraising Campaign for the AMC2011 Poetry & Music as Transformative Media Track

The Allied Media Conference will take place June 23 through June 26 at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

The mission of the conference is to cultivate strategies for a more just and creative world by sharing tools and tactics for transforming our communities through media-based organizing.

As part of this conference, the Poetry & Music as Transformative Media track is a gathering point for artists, organizers, and educators seeking to create community and center the potential of music and poetry to transform our world and ourselves. Applying the same forms of creativity and critique that we use in creating art to our methods of organizing, we hope to reflect on our work in holistic and innovative ways.

This track’s sessions will feature special presenters, experts, artists and facilitators, travelling from across the country to participate with us in Detroit.  Friends from Boston, the Bay Area, Tennessee, Seattle, New York and across the Midwest will be joining the conversation – but not without your help.

This campaign is an effort to accommodate these travel needs and support dialogue that fosters a broader understanding of the relationship between poetry, music, and the world at-large.
